Château Beauséjour dates back to 1851 in Montagne-Saint-Émillion, an appellation that is just northeast of the famed Saint-Émillion. In 2004, Pierre and Patricia Bernault purchased Château Beauséjour intending to rebuild the estate's reputation, situated on the finest terroir of Montagne-Saint-Émillion, and restore its historical standing as one of the most outstanding wines of the region. They did just that with the help of noted consulting oenologist Stephane Derenoncourt. Their vines sit at the top of the hillside, on the south-southwest-facing slope stretching from outside the bell tower of the Montagne church to the mills of Calon. Vines at the estate are ancient, with many over the age of 100, and the terroir is a clay and limestone mix with very little topsoil. Winemaking is very traditional, with extraction kept to a minimum to maximize the elegance of the wine. They use no herbicides or pesticides, keeping the yields very low.

2012 Château Beauséjour Montagne-Saint-Émillion
A seductive nose evokes cherries, and sweet spices, with floral notes and light blackcurrant. The mouth is velvety and fleshy, with good support and a fruity tapered body. The finish is long with great freshness while retaining a pleasant silky texture enhanced by loads of fruit, floral and spicy notes.
