Finca Torremilanos Ribera del Duero 'El Porron de Lara' 2022 750ml
Founded in 1903, Finca Torremilanos is a 200-hectare wine estate located in Aranda de Duero and is the second-oldest winery in the Ribera del Duero D.O., after Vega Sicilia. The current ownership and management began in the late 1970s and played a key role in establishing the Denomination of Origin (D.O.) in 1982. Pilar Pérez Albéniz, a highly respected figure in the region and the winner of the inaugural Ribera Heritage Award in 2019, continues to lead the winery, while her two sons, Ricardo and Vicente, manage winemaking and sales, respectively. In 2015, Finca Torremilanos became the first Demeter-certified biodynamic winery in the appellation. This family-run estate produces both traditional and experimental wines, reflecting a commitment to unique craftsmanship.
"The dark red 2022 El Porrón de Lara has a ripe and heady nose despite the 13.5% alcohol on the label. It faithfully reflects the warm and dry season, with notes of dark cherries, herbs and spices, notes of soy sauce, and a touch of iodine. There is some earthy rusticity here, with some dusty tannins and a dry finish. It's a red for food. It was bottled after 11 months in used oak barrels. 91 points" Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
