Gail Wines Cabernet Sauvignon 'Doris' Sonoma Valley 2023 750ml

We are excited about the arrival of the 2023 Gail Wine Cabernet Sauvignon 'Doris' by Dan O'Brien! Dan, a Rhode Island native, worked in restaurants in downtown Providence during college, which ignited his passion for wine. He then served as a sommelier in Boston and San Francisco.

Eventually, Dan joined the winemaking team at Larkmead, working alongside Dan Petroski, and later became the Estate Director at this historic Napa property. He also gained experience at both Cultivar and Long Meadow Ranch wineries.

In 2013, Dan launched his own project—Gail Wines—named after his mother, Gail, and his aunt, Doris. The Gail and Doris wines are naturally fermented in neutral oak and aged on the lees for a period before bottling. All wines are bottled unfiltered. The labels reflect Dan's straightforward approach to winemaking, featuring a watercolor inspired by the color palette of New England. These delectable, soulful wines embody the essence of Sonoma Valley, where Dan has made his home.

The 2023 'Doris' Cabernet Sauvignon has quickly become a house favorite for many. This wine is a blend from small vineyards scattered throughout Sonoma Valley. These vineyards are surrounded by live oaks, pines, and eucalyptus, which impart the distinctive aroma of Sonoma's iconic forests into the wine. It is plush, textured, and juicy without being overly rich, with notes of blue fruit layered over the essence of the forest.
