Milenrama Rioja Crianza 2019 750ml
Milenrama (Spanish for "yarrow," a flower prevalent in Rioja and prominently featured on the label) is a value-oriented project in Rioja from up-and-coming female winemaker Ruth de Andrés. Her varied C.V. boasts chemistry and enology degrees in three different countries, experience at top firms in Bordeaux and the Penedès, sommelier-course teaching, and, most recently, winemaking for export markets. The goal? Perhaps her own words are best– vinos buenos, bonitos y baratos — good, honest, inexpensive everyday wine.
100 % Tempranillo from goblet-pruned 40-year-old vines grown on gravel over clay limestone at 300-500m altitudes. Harvesting by hand. Fifteen days of alcoholic fermentation in concrete tanks at 25 degrees. Twenty-three days of malolactic fermentation after the alcoholic fermentation. Aged 12 months in American and French oak barrels.
Bright garnet red with classic tempranillo fruit aromas. On the palate, you'll experience a harmonious blend of ripe red fruits, subtle oak, and a hint of spice, all wrapped in a soft, velvety texture.
