Summer Food & Wine Pairing Guide

Summer Food & Wine Pairing Guide For Customers in Westchester County

Friends toasting over summer meal

Summer brings more than just heat and the sun’s rays. As the weather warms up and the sun comes out, summer also brings us a reason to get outside and celebrate with family and friends. These celebrations help people come together, and few things go better with summer gatherings than delicious food and summer wines. Let the Cask Fine and Rare Wines team help you plan your next get-together with help from this food and summer wine pairing guide.

1) Lobster Rolls

Seafood is a summer staple; few dishes make mouths water more than juicy lobster rolls. This exquisite dish pairs well with our Granbazan Etiqueta Verde. This white wine is made from Albarino grapes and provides an amplified aroma of peach, lemon zest, honeysuckle, and wet river rocks. It offers a fruity and mineral-driven palate. This wine has a high acidity level and citrus notes that complement the flavors of lobster and other seafood.

2) Grilled Salmon

Few things are as enjoyable as fresh salmon off the grill. This flaky and tender fish is a great entrée alongside a glass of Jax Y3 Chardonnay, a brand established by a father-son duo. Jax Y3 is a 100% chardonnay with 13.2% ABV, and it is grown only on a single vineyard near the Pacific Ocean. This helps the vintage stand out and pair well with summer salmon.

3) Salad Nicoise

This popular French favorite is light and goes great with a summer picnic. It originated from Nice on the Mediterranean Sea and resembles a Cobb salad, but contains tuna, green beans, and tomatoes. It becomes even more of a standout dish when paired with Remy Saves the Sea by Reeve Wines. This rosé not only tastes great, but its namesake, Remy Dorrance, and her father, Reeve co-founder Noah, have partnered with a nonprofit organization called 1% For the Planet to help raise money and awareness for the impacts of plastic pollution in the oceans.

4) Burgers and Steaks on the Grill

Grilling up burgers and steaks is an easy way to get people to come to a party. These summer staples go well with M by Mac & Billy, which features a deep ruby-purple color. This cabernet sauvignon is easy to drink and provides fragrances of cassis, leather, lavender, oak spice, and more for a pleasant aroma.

5) BBQ Ribs

BBQ is a summer classic for a reason, and BBQ ribs go particularly well with a glass of Estate Grown Syrah by Stolpman Vineyards. This syrah is rich and lively in flavor, something that is sure to excite your palate.

6) Hot Dogs

Nothing says summer quite like a juicy hot dog in a bun. These stalwarts of Americana are a great way to celebrate summer holidays or just enjoy a nice meal with the family outdoors. Hot dogs will taste even better when you pull out a bottle of Milenrama Rioja Crianza. This bright red offering features classic tempranillo fruit aromas and a velvety texture. It tastes of ripe fruits with hints of spice and oak to round out the flavor.
